Happy Fall!!! Today I’m sharing three adorable fall outfits that I put together. Any one of these would be the perfect thing to wear apple picking, to the pumpkin patch or on a leaf peeping excursion. The outfits feature classic wardrobe staples that will never go out of style. Bean boots, hunter boots, flannels and vests are all must-haves for the season that can easily transition you into the winter and be dressed up or down.

Here it is: my last outfit post of the Summer season. While the weather is forecasted to be in the 80s a few days this week, the air is feeling more like Fall and the leaves are starting to (slowly) change. The other day, I was aimlessly wandering down a road that I’d never been down before when I stumbled across this flock of sweet pea flowers. As the setting sun shone through their petals, I couldn’t help but get some photos. I wore a light pink lace top that is the perfect piece to transition out of Summer and into Fall. It is also the perfect spring top and I wore it last spring when I went to see the cherry blossoms. With the right jacket, it could also be worn into the winter. I paired the top with my white, scalloped shorts, white glitter Keds, tote bag and a brown belt. I love how the bag ties the whole outfit together as the straps match my belt and the white sparkly body matches the shorts and shoes.

September Favorites

School has been crazy busy and I feel like I haven’t had time to stop and just do nothing. The ultimate proof of that is the fact that I still haven’t finished watching the Bachelor in Paradise finale and it aired TWO days ago (the horror)!! Needless to say, I’m counting down the days until I get to go home for fall break… just have to get through midterms first. Here’s what I’ve been loving.

Calendar Print Outs: I love my Lilly Planner just as much as the next girl. It’s essential for me to map out my week and keep up on my current and never ending list of to-dos. However, I enjoy having a full monthly map out of all major assignments, exams and commitments I have coming up so I can plan ahead and be prepared. While browsing the web this morning, I came across these adorable and free monthly calendar print outs. I can’t get over how perfect they are! I love how they look hanging above my desk.

Foliage Map: I’m guilty of checking this on the regular since midway through August. I love fall. I’ve been checking it even more lately as Fall Break approaches and the leaves slowly start to tint.

Taylor Swift’s New Music: I’ve been listening to “…Ready For It” and “Look What You Made Me Do” nonstop since they were released. They are definitely two of Taylor’s best songs yet! I’m in love with her new sound and can’t wait to hear all of Reputation. If it’s anything like the first two singles, it will be filled with hidden meanings such as the ones discussed in this article. So interesting!

Pumpkin Muffins: Baking brings me life and the other night, I was craving pumpkin for some odd reason; probably because of the display of pumpkins and mums in front of Whole Foods. I found my family’s recipe for Pumpkin bread archived on my phone and modified it to make chocolate chip pumpkin muffins! They are sooo good. I’m definitely going to be making these several more times once I finish the current batch, which shouldn’t take long… I ate three of them yesterday alone.

A New Miss America: Sunday night, Miss North Dakota was crowned as the new Miss America. You can tell that she’s highly intelligent and 100% committed to service. The second she finished preforming in the talent portion, it was obvious she would be the winner; she just lit up the stage!

Yoga: Last night, I had to go to a yoga class for an assignment and found a free one in Farragut Square. While the rush hour noise was a little overwhelming at first, I soon tuned it out and got a nice little workout in. I was so in the zone, that I didn’t even notice the motorcade that drove by! If you’re in D.C. I highly recommend going to one of the free classes hosted here. Tuesday is yoga night and Thursdays are for Pilates, which I’m dying to try. You can sign up here!

Oh My Guava…

Two days after the After Party Sale, this adorable dress was delivered to my door and has been worn over five times already. I couldn’t be more in love. It’s not only light and comfortable, but has the most adorable print (oh my guava)! The dress is perfect for a day running from class to class, playing tourist or lounging around my dorm. It’s a flattering cut; fitted on top and flowy at the bottom.  While this APS purchase arrived swiftly, I’m still waiting on one more package. Fingers crossed it arrives soon!

Dorm Tour

After living in a double and sharing a bathroom with three other girls last year, I am very excited about my current housing situation. When you walk into my dorm, you are faced with a long hallway. The first room on the left is my walk in closet and the second room on the left is the bathroom. The first room on the right is the kitchen and the room attached to it is my roommates. Finally, the room at the end of the hall is mine.

I am so fortunate to not only have a kitchen almost entirely to myself, but my own bedroom! At my school, this almost never happens and the room I ended up with was by pure chance. Many of the rooms in my building are so tiny that girls need to bunk their beds to make everything fit, and here I am with my own space! While it’s not the biggest room, I get a door to close at the end of the day as well as a window that does not overlook the city street (thank God!). Stringing up various fairy lights along my walls combined with letting natural daylight in make the space feel a lot bigger.

I ended up reusing all of my room decor from last year; I’m still in love with my pink and preppy Lilly Pulitzer themed room. The furniture my room came with was new and simple. A bed, mattress, desk, chair and bureau, which I deconstructed and placed underneath my bed. I also added two stacked boxes under my bed for some extra storage.

The one new item I bought this year was a mirror, since I didn’t need one last year thanks to the half wall of mirror that my double came with. I ended up getting a great deal on it at TJ Maxx and strung some star-shaped fairy lights over it for an added touch. Under the mirror is my carpet which I am absolutely anal about keeping clean. Yes, I am one of those people who makes you take your wet and dirty shoes off before stepping foot on my carpet. In just three weeks, you don’t want to know how many times its been vacuumed.

Because my desk also serves as my vanity, I like to keep it clean and organized. This means that only the essentials are allowed to be stored on it: makeup, sticky notes, a pencil cup, a stapler, tape, as well as my laptop and agenda. Everything else, such as textbooks and notebooks are stored under by bed in a desk organizer or under the desk in a little cubby.  The wall above my desk is still bare and I can’t seem to decide what to do with it. I’m sure as the year progresses much less of my wall space will be empty but for now, I’m still brainstorming. I’m torn between adding a large calendar, assembling a wall of prints, or adding a large collection of framed personal photos to the area.

Now onto my favorite part of the room, my bed! My bed is always made. If there is a wrinkle in my duvet or if one of my throw pillows is crooked, I will fix it immediately. My bed is made with a heated blanket as the first layer and topped with a Lilly Pulitzer duvet cover. My two ‘sleeping pillows’ are dressed in white pillow cases with lace detailing and further accessorized with my Lilly Pulitzer pillows, a monogram pillow, and my bear Berry.

Above my bed, I hung my hot pink wooden vine monogram decal. It really dresses up my room while personalizing it in a classy way. I love how it ties in with the monogram on my throw pillow and centers my bed. I ordered it online from Monogram Lane and got the 18″ size. It’s called the “wood script monogram.”

I am once again in love with every aspect of my room. It expresses my personality and it the perfect inspiring place to be productive, creative or relax.

Gingham Gaze

Happy September! Summer is winding down and it’s only a matter of time before the season of Fall is upon us. Just this morning, it was fifty five degrees. Because of the gradually dropping temperatures, I have been reaching for my white jeans more often than not and looking for the perfect weather appropriate top to pair them with. This gingham one is perfect for the in-between season we’re experiencing right now. It’s light and off the shoulder, perfect for Summer, while providing one sleeve of coverage, perfect for Fall. I’m obsessed with the adorable ruffle details! Because I can’t get enough navy gingham, I paired the top with some matching block heel sandals to complete my look.
