Autumn’s Pond

Am I the only one who loves drizzly autumn days? Something about them makes the leaves seem brighter and the air breathe crisper. Rainy fall days also provide me the perfect excuse to pull my hunter boots out of summer storage and jump in some puddles! Paired with jeans, a flannel and a vest, I am prepared to walk the dog around the pond and enjoy the foliage once the rain subsides.

The Pumpkin Picker

Pumpkins and mums and gourds, oh my! Fall has finally arrived and has never looked better. Is it just me or are the pumpkins way more diverse this year? The days of pumpkin patches filled with basic orange pumpkins seem to be gone and it appears that unique, crazy looking pumpkins are all the rage. Purple, green, pink, white and warty, they all boast different shapes, sizes and finishes.  I can’t even begin to fathom what I’ll see next. Some of them even look like crosses between butternut squashes and pumpkins; I wonder how they taste! Fortunately, I managed to find some traditional orange pumpkins to make jack-o-lanterns out of and some pretty mums for the front porch!IMG_0450FullSizeRender 31IMG_0448IMG_0446IMG_0455IMG_0475IMG_0457IMG_0478

Finally Fall

I missed this handsome bear so much! Naturally, we had to take our annual Fall photos. He’s such a character! In many of the photos, he was smiling for the camera with his big goofy teeth (see photo #4). Because it’s only the beginning of October and the leaves aren’t forecasted to peak until next weekend, we had to strategically position ourselves in the field to be in front of the one patch of trees that weren’t completely green. Afterwards, Jupiter got turned back out and I jumped his brother around. After such a fun morning, I’m excited for the rest of my time home!

Country Roads, Take Me Home

I’m sitting in Reagan National Airport waiting to go home for Thanksgiving break. After seven weeks at school followed by a jam packed four days home, then another month of school, a full week at home is much needed. I’m excited. There’s nothing better than being home, away from the city air and stresses of school. Home is freedom; I can get in the car and drive wherever I want to.  I can eat real food and not have to do dishes. Most importantly, I get to see my family, friends, cats, dog, and ponies!
